David Soul—beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother—passed away on January 4, 2024, after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family. He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist, and dear friend. His smile, laughter, and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.

David was such a huge part of my childhood as I was an avid fan of Starsky and Hutch. I came across a 45 record of “Don’t give up on us baby” that I purchased when I was in my teens. He had an infectious smile. My sincere condolences to his family 🙏

I always remember watching starsky and hutch, it was a programme my whole family loved, my favourite episode was the girl who hid the diamonds in her baseball glove, and still is…. you were my first crush, the reason I love blonde hair and blue eyes on a guy, …. I remember my older sister buying the single Don’t give up on us baby, as much as I loved that song, I really loved the B side black bean soup lol I still find myself sing that song and smiling when I do lol…
Thanks for all my happy memories, and can’t help but imagine how lost your family and friends must feel at this time..

Starsky & Hutch was a way of life. David’s pictures adorned my bedroom walls, blu-tacked to my floral wallpaper! Don’t Give Up On Us was played until grooveless. Now, decades later I consider myself very, very lucky to have shared so much more of David via the fan groups, and his website, than I could ever have dreamed, way back in the 70s….
I have my recent little video – super precious now. David read my letter, and he answered my questions. Sending a lifetime’s love to Helen, and all his family. Bless you David. My goodness you were loved. XX 💝💐

The world keeps turning…just like it will and at one point a person we cherish and love is gone. David is gone. For some time now I thought I’ve lost him and thereby a piece of myself, of my past. But now I can see he took just another direction – he is gone but not has not disappeared or vanished. He’s still coming along with us – in that same place in our hearts he has always been.

My deepest condolences to Helen, David’s children, grandchildren and the rest of his family. What a treasure he was! Like many, my first introduction to David was in his role as Hutch when I was only 8. I was living overseas at the time and could apparently convince my parents to let me watch any and all shows from home. In the decades to follow, I’d always find myself circling back to his work, but none more so than during the pandemic. Through David’s music, films and television series, I was able to escape to a time and place of normalcy when all around us was far from normal.
I’m sure over the course of his career, the stardom that came along with it was not always easy for his family. So to all you, thank you for sharing him with us! He always said he had the best fans, but that’s only because he offered so much to all of us.
Finally, to Team Soul: Thank you for always keeping us, his fans, apprised of his projects. I know you are feeling his loss, too. In time, I hope that you will continue with some of David’s unfinished projects so that we can all see them to completion. Much love and hugs.
I was absolutely gutted when I heard you passed you were part of my childhood espically starsky and hutch I passed it on to my son who is now a big fan and tell my Grandkids how good you were with Paul I was also a fan of your music espically “dont give up on us” you had a talent for acting in many things but I remember bbc 1 saturday night waiting then the music!! My sincere condolences to your beautiful wife and children and also the the charity work you did as well My Generation will have lasting memories and I believe the younger ones coming along will start enjoying what we enjoyed but first and foremost not just being hutch etc you were a husband and a dad and a friend David you will never be forgotten because you were HUTCH and he was STARSKY! rest in peace a beautiful human being and THANK YOU

So sorry to hear of the great David Soul passing, one of my childhood hero’s. I know the impact of Detective Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson from the legendary Starsky & Hutch will get the most comments (and rightly so) but my favourite part was David as Ben Mears in the 1979 TV movie Salems Lot … an absolutely stunning performance and a film that still scares me today (I’m 52 now). RIP David Soul …. & thank you …
You were part of my childhood growing up. I saw you at the Apollo in concert in Manchester UK in the late 70s, my very first concert. I loved Starsky and Hutch and also Salem’s Lot, boy was i scarred for life after watching that series. You were simply the best. May you rest in peace. Thank you for all you have done.
