Thank You to Our AMERICA Supporters

To all our friends out there,

In these days of campaigns, when every political candidate is out there running for Student Council President, County Prosecutor, Senator, Representative or President, bombarding you and me with tin cups and hats pleading for your money, I am sorry to come knocking on your door with my hat in my hands.

The fact is, you have already tremendously helped us with your Go-Fund-Me donations that we need to complete our production of AMERICA, a short film documentary based on a song of the same name that I recorded 40 years ago, but never released. With everything that is happening in these extraordinary times in the United States, suddenly this song has come of age and demanded that a documentary based on it be made.

Think about America then,
She’ll love you if you let her again
We never had it better than when
We stick together… we can weather any storm.

I need you to know this project could not exist without your support. And so, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your donation.

To bring you up-to-date, Laura Moretti and I, separated by 8 hours and 5,220 miles, have been Skyping for hours on end every day, editing the film on Final Cut Pro (she in Chico, California, I in my London office). Working with us from the great state of Texas, Lisa Adair has been our researcher, locating and securing the photos and videos we need to create the film. From Sydney, Australia, we are lucky to have Alison Knox, who has been doing the tricky job of clearing usages and negotiating prices for the visuals, photos, and videos we want to use that are administered by the various photo agencies—a tough and expensive job—so much so that we’ve added Lori Keefer from Illinois, the Land of Lincoln, to Team America, specifically to help us with our fundraising outreach efforts.

Geographic distances and time differences aside, the five of us are committed to finishing this video for release in early October, where it will be distributed free of charge on all social media platforms. Still, if we are to finally realize the project, everything is dependent on reaching our financial goal of $25,000. At the moment, we have raised approximately $20,000, but we still need an additional $5,000 to finish the film.

For those who have already donated, again I thank you so very much; and for those who would like to help us finish this wonderful project, please feel free to send us what you can. If you have a mind to, share this letter and the Go-Fund-Me link with your family and friends, and throughout your social media. Perhaps someone in your circle would like to help us with AMERICA, too.

It will finally be your contributions that will help us secure the visual rights to all of the images and footage that we need to complete this important story.

Gratefully yours from Me and Thee Productions,

David, Laura, Lisa, Alison, and Lori
