Deathtrap

"Spellbinding, beautifully ingenious, a witty and intricate thriller..."

Sidney Bruhl (David Soul) needs a killer idea. Once the toast of Broadway his plays were masterpieces of the murder genre, but it's been a while since he had a major hit. When creative writing student Clifford Anderson(Gerald Kyd) posts Bruhl a brilliant script, the desperate writer sees a lethal opportunity. Plausible enough. But look again. Closer. This perfect plot is about to bend, to spiral, to spin totally out of control. And in Sidney Bruhl's isolated American home, enjoyable fatal fiction will become shockingly fatal fact.

Written by Ira Levin, the writer responsible for the memorable and chilling dramas Rosemary's Baby and Sliver, Deathtrap is a devilishly clever thriller. With more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, this is both a compelling examination of jealousy, revenge and artistic rivalry and a drama of dazzling wit and humour. The longest running thriller on Broadway, Deathtrap is breathtaking, unexpected entertainment.

Gerald Kyd is well-known for his television role as Dr Sean Maddox in Casualty. Also in the cast is Susan Penhaligon as Myra Bruhl, whose many leading television credits include A Touch of Frost and most famously, Bouquet of Barbed Wire.
